About the instructor

John C. Sorochan, Ph.D., is a distinguished professor at the University of Tennessee. He earned his bachelors, masters and Ph.D. at Michigan State University. Sorochan's research interests include golf, athletic fields, residential, commercial and municipal turf applications, sustainable turf management; and turfgrass stress biology. He’s received, numerous awards including the Turfgrass Professional of the Year from the Tennessee Turfgrass Association and The William H. Daniel Founders Award from the Sports Turf Managers Association of America. Sorochan has lectured at many state, regional and international turfgrass events on golf course shade, mowing and rolling, and plant growth. He teaches both seminars and webinars for GCSAA.
