Using a chainsaw is a common enough occurrence but there are skills required that shouldn’t be overlooked. Safety is always critical for operators. When Trent Manning used a chainsaw to fell a huge cottonwood at Settindown Creek Course of Ansley Golf Club in Georgia, his co-worker, Jonathan Morris, took video of the event. Manning sent it to GCSAA for a 5 Minute Fix video. But much of the detail as to setup and safety wasn’t contained therein. In this On Demand, GCSAA team members quizzed Manning about the processes you see and behind-the-scenes info you’ll want to know. About the Instructor
Born in North Georgia, Trent Manning has remained close to home as equipment manager at both Ansley and Settindown Creek Golf Club. Manning earned certificates in small engines, electrical and reel theory from Gwinnett Technical College then worked for a Toro Distributor where he was a mobile service technician. Manning has been in the golf equipment industry for over 20 years. He helps his local chapter, GGCSA, develop equipment manager training seminars, has completed GCSAA’s EMCP Level 1 and 2 and served on the equipment managers task group for GCSAA. Manning received first place prize from the CMAA for designing and fabricating a mobile water trailer that is used to water small areas on the golf course. He received GCSAA’s 2018 Most Valuable Technician Award and has taught both seminars and webinars for GCSAA.
