About the instructor
Elizabeth Guertal, Ph.D., is a professor at Auburn University. She earned her B.S. and M.S. from The Ohio State University and her Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University. Guertal's research interests and areas of focus include soil fertility, turfgrass management and the flux of fertilizer nutrients in the turfgrass environment. Her university appointment includes 50% teaching and 50% research. Guertal's excellence in the turf industry has been well-documented through numerous awards she has received, including Outstanding Instructor in the Dept. of Agronomy and Soils at Auburn University, the Novartis Award in Agronomy for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching and Research from the American Society of Agronomy and a Fulbright Fellowship from the University of Mauritius. In addition to her university responsibilities, Guertal has served as Elected Chair for Division C-5 of the Crop Science Society of America and as Technical and Associate Editor for the journal Crop Science. She is a Fellow of the Crop Science Society, the Soil Science Society, and the American Society of Agronomy. Guertal has also taught various turfgrass and educational subjects in Cuba, Argentina, Spain, England, Mauritius, China, New Zealand and Canada. She has been a GCSAA faculty member since 2001 teaching at the education conference as well as numerous webcasts.
