Sprayers may seem like complicated pieces of machinery, but the basic theory and foundational components haven’t changed in decades. In this 60-minute webinar, Zane Raudenbush, Ph.D., discussed the sprayer systems utilized by golf course superintendents, and how to properly calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot these systems. Raudenbush provides an overview of the various pumps, solenoids, nozzles, filters, plumbing, and electrical systems commonly found on golf course sprayers. Equipment Managers will leave this webinar with a strong understanding of rate controllers and how to ensure their accuracy from year-to-year.

About the Instructor


Zane Raudenbush, Ph.D. is an assistant professor at the Ohio State University Agricultural Technical Institute where he serves as the Coordinator for the Turfgrass Management program. Raudenbush began working at his hometown golf course at age fourteen and went on to pursue his bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University in Turfgrass Management. During his time at Rutgers, he spent four summers at Oakmont Country Club helping prepare the grounds for the 2007 US Open. Raudenbush later was an assistant golf course superintendent at Bayonne Golf Club and West Shore Country Club before returning to get his master and doctoral degrees from Kansas State University. Raudenbush’s doctoral research focused on the cultural and chemical control of silvery-thread moss in golf course putting greens. Currently, his research program develops ecologically-based weed management strategies for turfgrass systems. Raudenbush previously taught the webinar Moss and Algae: How to Identify and Manage These Nuisance Pests for GCSAA which is available On Demand.
