About the Host

Jan Bel JanJan Bel Jan comes from Pittsburgh, Penn. golf family. Her father, George BelJan, was a golf pro/superintendent; three of his five “in the golf business” brothers were peer-respected PGA professionals. From them, she learned the game and business of golf. Bel Jan began her design career with Tom Fazio with whom she held a senior position in golf course design, construction and project management for more than twenty years. Her experience as a registered Landscape Architect, Certified Arborist and former assistant superintendent, provide her with a unique outlook on the playability, strategy, ecology, and economics of golf courses. Bel Jan now maintains her own golf course design firm, serves as Treasurer of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) and was an Adjunct Professor at Hodges University in Naples, Fla   She is being honored through 2018 in the USGA Museum exhibit: "Breaking New Ground: Women and Golf Course Architecture.”

About the Case Study Presenters

Bob Randquist CGCSRobert M. Randquist, CGCS, GCSAA Past President, has been Director of Golf Course & Grounds, Boca Rio Golf Club, Boca Raton, Florida, since November 1998. Prior to that, he served as the golf course superintendent at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Randquist earned a bachelor of science degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He has hosted the 1982 and 1994 PGA Championships, 1995 and 1996 PGA Tour Championships, and the 1987 USGA Women's Mid-Amateur Championship. He has taught seminars at the Golf Industry Show as well as webinars for GCSAA.

 

John CurranJohn Curran, John's Island West, Vero Beach, Fla., has been a GCSAA member for over 20 years. He has served as both a Chapter Delegate and a Grassroots Ambassador. Curran is President of the Florida GCSA.
