About the Instructor

Gary Hawkins, Ph.D.Gary L. Hawkins, Ph.D., is an assistant professor and extension specialist in Water Resource Management at the University of Georgia. He graduated from Clemson University and Auburn University with degrees in Agricultural Engineering. Hawkins then worked with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management as an environmental engineer, permitting and closing landfills. He earned his Ph.D. from The University of Tennessee. Hawkins’ research is used to support his extension programming. His extension and research programs are focused on water quality, water quantity, and water conservation in the areas of stormwater management, on-site waste management, private well water, and conservation tillage.
