Prepare to elevate your control of anthracnose this season as Jim Murphy, Ph.D., Bruce Clarke, Ph.D., and Michael Agnew, Ph.D. discuss multiple aspects of this destructive disease. Dr. Clarke kicks off this 60-minute webinar with a quick overview of the disease followed by Dr. Murphy’s discussion of the cultural practices that can significantly decrease the severity of anthracnose. Dr. Clarke then discusses several of the control options available to superintendents while Dr. Agnew summarizes how to put it all together in an effective, season-long agronomic program.

About the Instructors

Jim Murphy, Ph.D.James A. Murphy, Ph.D., is an extension specialist in turfgrass management at Rutgers University. He earned his bachelors at Western Illinois University and master's and Ph.D. at Michigan State University. Murphy’s research interests include understanding the role cultural management practices can play in improving the stress tolerance and persistence of turf. He is also director of the Rutgers Center for Turfgrass Science at Rutgers University.

Bruce Clarke, Ph.D.Bruce B. Clarke, Ph.D., is an extension specialist in turfgrass pathology at Rutgers University. He earned his bachelors and Ph.D. from Rutgers University. Clarke’s research focuses on foliar and root-infecting diseases of cool-season turfgrass. Clarke has taught identification and control of foliar and root-infecting diseases of cool-season turfgrass in many countries around the world.

Mike Agnew, Ph.D.Michael L. Agnew, Ph.D., is a technical manager for Syngenta Turf & Landscape. He earned his bachelors and master's degree in horticulture, and a Ph.D. with a specialization in turfgrass science and plant stress physiology from Kansas State University. Agnew currently provides technical support for Syngenta customers and staff, provides leadership in turfgrass fungicide product development and is a frequently requested speaker within the turfgrass and green industries.
